RStudio Workbench (previously RStudio Server Pro) has a load balancing feature in which a cluster of servers can be configured so that any new request can be routed to a server based on load, usage, or even your own custom load balancing algorithm. The server gracefully handles the loss of servers in the cluster, and their return. See our admin guide for more details.
