Beginning August 1, 2023, the Cloud Premium plan on Posit Cloud will split into two new plans: Cloud Basic ($25/month) and Cloud Standard ($75/month). Below are commonly asked questions relating to the change.
Which subscription plans are changing?
The Cloud Premium plan will no longer be available beginning on August 1, 2023. In its place, two new plans - Cloud Basic and Cloud Standard - will be offered.
How are these new plans different?
Cloud Basic will cost $25 a month, include 150 hours of compute time, and have up to 8GB RAM and 2 CPUs. Cloud Standard will cost $75 a month, include 500 hours of compute time, and have up to 32GB RAM and 8 CPUs. More details will be added to the website when the new plans are available for purchase on August 1, 2023.
I’m currently on a Cloud Premium plan. What does the change mean for me?
If you are an existing Cloud Premium subscriber, we will automatically migrate your plan to Cloud Standard on November 1, 2023. Subsequent renewals on and after that date will be charged at $75 per month. No action is required on your part.
I’m currently on a discounted Cloud Premium plan. Will I continue to receive the same discount?
Although we will not offer discounts on Cloud Basic or Cloud Standard, we will automatically migrate you to the new Cloud Standard plan on November 1, 2023 and apply a monthly coupon to your current subscription that will be valid for the next twelve months. During this time you will continue to pay that same monthly rate that you are currently paying. At the end of that period, any renewals will be billed at $75 per month.
We decided to remove the discounts alongside the introduction of the more affordable Cloud Basic plan and to eventually add annual and bulk discounts options.
Please note that if you change your subscription before the migration date or during the following 12-month period, you will no longer be eligible for this temporary monthly coupon.
What happens if I purchase a new Cloud Premium subscription before August 1, 2023?
If you purchase a new Cloud Premium account anytime before August 1, 2023, we will automatically migrate you to a Cloud Standard plan on November 1, 2023. Subsequent renewals on and after that date will be charged at $75 per month.
Is the free plan still going to be available?
Yes. The free plan on Posit Cloud will still be offered.
